Extra: "Odd family" notes
Jan. 22nd, 2005 12:12 pmFirst of all, this is how I imagined the cats. I googled and got this pictures that almost looked like my mental image.

*dies of cuteness* They're sleeping over Yuuko's cardigan.

Such an evil look, Kero's planning how to steal some pancake leftovers. (I couldn't find a fatter cat that looked this cute and looked like the one above)

When Yue isn't sleeping, he glances at his master while he's writing. (This is a great finding, this cat looks a lot like the original Yue)
Now, why this idea? I've always thought Watanuki has some resemblance to Clow/Eriol and it's a known fact he smiles like them sometimes, if he's in a good, noble mood (hence the "pet Clow" nickname.) So I wouldn't be surprised if in another dimension he's Clow/Fujitaka/Eriol's son, and that would explain some things in HOLiC canon. (i.e, why Clow and Yuuko wanted to help him) So, I wanted to explore that possibility in an AU fic.
The idea of making Yuuko his mother comes from... well, wanting her to bear Clow's child XD Granted, I could've make Clow a widow and Yuuko as the stepmother, but with blood ties it was a better thing. Besides,
Yes, there are Kinomoto house references: the apron, the whiteboard. Did I make that to give you a false hint and think about Fujitaka as the dad? Yes and no. Sure, I wanted to mislead you for a couple of paragraphs, but remember that Clow is half Fujitaka, so his domestic enviroment could be similar. And it's a good method, the whiteboard one.
Why two cats? It's a canon fact Clow and Yuuko like cats (according to the Soel and Larg gospel), so they would have one or two as pets. They're more attatched to his master than his mistress, because he bought them and named them. And something both Ende and Yuuko Ichihara taught me: when you name someone, you give them the same qualities as the name includes. That's why cat!Kero acts like Kero, and cat!Yue acts like Yue. They also love Kimihiro, since he's kind to animals, and he's quite feline.
The jobs. As they have no magic, they had to have new jobs. I can't see Yuuko without being a salesman (or is it saleswoman?), and she needed to sell exotic things. So an antique shop would be great for her. Also, a tidbit: Kimihiro works in the shop at summer for extra bucks. And he has to clean the dust from a lot of junk XD (some things never change.)
I've always seen Clow as an intellectual, but working in something that won't require contact to people, something he could do at home. So writing would be nice. He has a lot of imagination, so a novelist it is (maybe inspired in Shigure Sohma somehow, but I digress.) Then I got the idea of him coming up to CCS!story and writing it. Makes sense, he's a mastermind in that world. He never knew the cardmaker's name, so he just gave him a random name and not *his*.
And yes, I did the Rowling parallelism on purpose. I supposed he would be rather successful and a fandom would develop from his magic story. And he's the kind of teaser who would make a website to mess up with his fans' minds. Double, double, toil and trouble... something wicked this way comes! Another thing: Yuuko also reads Sakura slash, not only femslash. She's that kind of pervy XD Kimihiro's favorite character from his father's books is Syaoran and he roots for Syaoran/Sakura. Oh, and Clow doesn't upload his cats' pictures on clowreed.com, like some mangakas we know *cough*
Clow/Yuuko couldn't be a smooth relationship. They're like Ross and Rachel, they go on and off, on and off, on... That's why they divorced and then went back together. Actually, the reconciliation was because they had to arrange some papers and he went to her apartment, they drank a lot and... well, he stayed for breakfast XD That caused nostalgia, and she gave him a second chance and moved back and had a second wed. That's one of the reasons why her son is not that closed to her: he got used to be without her (he lived with daddy Clow), and then he had to readjust to her again.
I can't believe I'm talking too much about an AU one-shot. And for some reason, I get the feeling I want to write some more of this world, even in 100-word drabbles.

Date: 2005-01-22 05:12 pm (UTC)Second of all... your weird fic indeed broke my brain, because last night I dream of it... except that Y&C had three children and the oldest had married and had a little daughter that looked a lot like sakura with black hair. Everybody called Clow “the evil grampa”

Date: 2005-01-22 09:31 pm (UTC)Kimihiro was in a bliss. He was paired up with Himawari for the History paper. So they were going to work on it at his house. Alone the both of them. It was like a dream.
So Himawari arrived to the Reed manor at 4:00 pm, and a man in a yukata, with long hair and bespectacles who looked a lot like her friend, opened the door.
"Oh, a high school girl!," he said. "Are you a fan? You're such a pretty young lady."
"DAAAAAAAAD!!! Stop flirting with Himawari-chan!"
"Ah, so she's the famous Kunogi-san." Clow grinned, amused. "Kimihiro-san talks a lot about you!"
"He does?"
"Oh Jesus Christ!" Kimihiro turned red. "Dad, you're embarrasing me, get out of here."
"Alright, I get it... I'll be in my studio if you need me. Have fun, kids." So he left, containing some giggles.
"Your dad is funny, Reed-kun."
"Yeah, right..."
